About the Event
Described as “the sound of Ancient Armenia reinvented for the 21st century,” The Naghash Ensemble brings together the spiritual power of Armenian sacred music, the intimacy of folk tradition, and the bold language of contemporary composition. Created by Armenian-American composer and pianist John Hodian, the ensemble sets the writings of 15th-century Armenian poet and priest Mkrtich Naghash to music featuring soaring three-part female vocals alongside duduk, oud, dhol, and piano.
Doors open at 6:00 PM. Arrive early to enjoy Armenian food and a pre-concert introduction by Armenian-American conductor, educator, and music scholar Tigran Arakelyan, who will share the history, poetry, and cultural traditions behind the music.
Vegetarian and non-vegetarian Armenian meals prepared by Bellevue’s Hye Life Cafe & Bar will be available for purchase before the performance.
Tickets: $40 + $3 service fee
